Although playing games on a mobile device is nowhere near as comfortable as playing on a PC or console, you can't deny that Google's Play Store has some interesting titles to offer. If you prefer sitting in front of a large screen, instead of hunching over a small display, then LeapDroid is something that may interest you. It emulates an Android environment, in which you can download and play everything the Play Store has to offer. The software looks, feels and works like a real-life tablet. You can organize icons the same way, drag on the screen and so on.

LeapDroid's setup file is a bit large, so downloading and installing the software may take some time. It is compatible with all popular Windows platforms and it provides full support for both 32 and 64-bit variants. A VirtualBox installation is required, but the tool is included in the setup package and it will be installed automatically.

The user interface is designed to resemble a tablet. You can find the same kind of home screen as that on any Android-powered tablet, which works just like the real thing. For example, Icons can be moved anywhere on the screen and you can also group them, without any effort. Clicking is the equivalent of tapping and clicking and dragging is obviously the equivalent of swiping on the screen.

The Android-like functionality doesn't stop at the home screen. As previously mentioned, you can access the Play Store and install mostly anything you find there. Furthermore, the software comes with a built-in browser, a dedicated pictures gallery, as well as other tools you would find on an Android tablet. You can even access a general settings menu, which contains the same options you would find on a tablet, even if some of them don't make any sense, such as the battery-related options.

Anything you can do on an Android tablet, you can do on a computer as well, thanks to LeapDroid.

Pros

You can play any Android game on Google's Play Store in an emulated Android environment. The software works and feels like a tablet. It offers the same options and functionality as a real-life tablet.

Cons

You may encounter difficulties if you already have a version of VirtualBox installed. The emulator will set itself to use more than one processor core, which makes LeapDroid unusable.
